The Hopewood Charity cares for children, young adults and new mothers who are experiencing mental health issues. It also focuses on eating disorders and supporting the children’s families as well as the children themselves.
Hospital director Steve Booker said: “The Hopewood Charity says at least one child in 10 experiences mental ill health issues before the age of 18, and one in five new mothers suffers with mental health difficulties during pregnancy or shortly after giving birth. They are currently having an appeal to transform facilities at Hopewood – a purpose-built facility which cares for children and adolescents, pregnant women and new mothers.
“We wanted to support the appeal and so we put on our socks in support, which allows clinical staff to join in the event. We also had a raffle, for which team members generously donated prizes. We are now applying to Care UK’s match-funding pot to double our fundraising efforts to £500.”
