My name's Chris Morris and I am a senior nurse working at HMP Sudbury.
Prior to joining the team at HMP Sudbury, I worked in HMYOI Werrington and before that within hospitals and nursing homes. I feel that with the secure estate (prisons) I have developed and flourished as a nurse - it's a truly different but interesting environment.
I believe nursing within HMP Sudbury is unique. The services we provide promote autonomy to our nursing staff, but allow for good quality patient care.
No two days are the same - you could be involved in a triage clinic followed up by a treatment clinic, then the next day you could be involved in Multi Professional Complex Case Clinics and admitting new receptions. We provide a range of services that cater for new conditions, long term conditions and minor illness/injury.
We are a small team, but that allows for good professional working relationships, that assist each other throughout a shift. We operate a cheerful environment, and will always offer advice and support.
Healthcare at HMP Sudbury is reflective of community GP services, and we promote independence within our patient group. It’s a great opportunity for the development of new skills, and to refine pre-existing skills.
