HMP Lewes is a local category B men’s prison for those on remand to local courts as well as those who have been sentenced and those awaiting release. With an operational capacity of 692, HMP Lewes is based in Lewes in East Sussex, within the South Downs National Park. It’s approximately 25 minutes from Brighton and Hove, 35 minutes of Eastbourne and Worthing by car.
Care UK were recently awarded the healthcare contract at HMP Lewes and will begin delivering services on 1st April 2020; we are the Health in Justice Market leader, providing healthcare services to offenders across the country. Our model of care is our Wellbeing Approach – an integrated, comprehensive approach in recognition of the fact prisoners are a socially-excluded group with healthcare needs which are complex and often associated with poor outcomes. It adopts the premise no single health/well being factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person’s care.
To ensure the continued quality of care at HMP Lewes, we’re looking for a Pharmacy Assistant to support us and the existing team in this new venture.

What do we need from you so you can do the job?
You will be required to assist with general dispensary/pharmacy area duties and stock management within the prison pharmacy area. Supporting the pharmacy/healthcare team to ensure the provision of a timely and efficient pharmacy/medicines management service to the the treatment areas on prison wings.
You will hold NVQ Level 2, BTEC or equivalent qualifications in Pharmacy. You will also have relevant post-qualification experience working within a pharmacy environment.
If you are self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations, then this could be the right role for you!
