Job Summary

We are currently sourcing for a Day Ward & Endoscopy Manager to join our Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre. The Outpatients Department is one of the more challenging but most rewarding places to work. The post holder will ensure the effective management of the Day Surgery and Endoscopy unit utilising all resources to effectively deliver quality care at all times. They will take particular responsibility for both designated clinical areas and patients during each session. Adhering to and further develop Endoscopy unit services meet JAG accreditation standards, policies and procedures.

Shift Pattern - Full Time, 37.5 hours a week

Responsible To

Head of Nursing and Clinical Services Manager

Key Responsibilities

•Managing the Day Surgery and Endoscopy unit to meet the requirements of quality patient care, ensuring that all peri-operative nursing care activities carried out comply with relevant legislation and Company policies and procedures.
•To ensure that all procedures performed meet individual patient needs, reflect good practice and are provided by means of appropriate equipment, within the agreed patient care pathways.
•To ensure that patients are informed to make decisions about their surgery and that consent meets legal requirements.
•To ensure that comprehensive Maxims and Unisoft records are maintained in respect of all patients.
•To maintain a system for recording and responding to patient and medical staff complaints
•To ensure that premises remain fit for purpose.
•Takes responsibility for the reporting and investigation of incidents/complaints and to ensure all incidents/complaints are reported to the Head of Nursing and Clinical Services and Clinical Governance manager.
•To be responsible for maintaining accurate, timely and complete records, ensuring the safety and confidentiality of information
•Ensure that the cleanliness and hygiene of is maintained, adhering to infection prevention control policies and procedures, Decontamination policies and procedures, and all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
•To ensure that equipment is handled correctly and maintained in a safe working order, reporting any defects to the Head of Nursing and Clinical Services Manager.
•Managing nursing staff to ensure adequate and cost effective staffing, maintaining excellent working relationships.
•Manage the Day Surgery and Endoscopy unit in its entirety to ensure productivity levels are achieved, with all procedure Lists /schedules managed efficiently and effectively.

Skills & Experience

• Experience in Day Surgery and Endoscopy
• Has taken an active leadership role in promoting, developing and sustaining the key focus areas for nursing
• Experience of effectively managing a team in the private sector
• Knowledge and understanding of relevant and current decontamination guidance

Qualifications

• NMC Registered Nurse Part 1
• Day Surgery/Endoscopy experience
• A qualification in teaching and assessment.
• Immediate Life support (ILS)
• Evidence of continuing professional development
• Safeguarding level 2 training.
• Recent and extensive experience in a Senior Nursing role Band 6 or above
