HM Prison Long Lartin is a dispersal prison in the long term and high security estate. It holds up to 621 Category A and Category B male offenders convicted of some of the most dangerous and serious offences in the country. It has the largest segregation unit in Europe. There is an 8 bed inpatient unit which includes a constant watch and end of life cell. The prison is operated by Her Majesty’s Prison Service.

What do we need from you so you can do the job?
As a Registered Nurse you’ll be an integral part of the senior team at HMP Long Lartin, bringing your well-developed clinical skills, passion for care and leadership skills to the role. With plenty of primary care experience, you will be leading from the front, keeping your skills sharp by delivering some clinics directly and developing knowledge within the team to continually improve the care for patients.
This is a leadership role and with your team leaders you will model a culture of compassion, care, courage, commitment, communication and competence. The role will include providing support and mentorship; drawing the best from our staff and improving the quality of care received by patients at HMP Long Lartin.
As the Clinical Lead you will be innovative, bringing fresh ideas and solutions to the challenges of proving healthcare in a prison that is also changing its focus to a remand and resettlement prison; you will see men at beginning and end of their time in prisons, both are times of transition in the community and require a coordinated approach to continuity of care with other services.
