I help to make a difference

Are you collaborative, caring and compassionate?

Prisons are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work - if you’re looking for a role where you can develop your existing skills and learn something new every day, then this is the place to be.

As a healthcare provider, we recognise the fact that prisoners are a socially excluded group with complex healthcare needs that can often be associated with poor outcomes. We believe in putting the patient first, regardless of the environment or their history.

Care UK is the Health in Justice market leader - 4 years ago we were managing 12 prison healthcare services and in 2020 we're providing healthcare services in over 40 prisons across the country.

We can offer training and development in our friendly and supportive teams as well as full-time, part-time and bank opportunities and a range of other employee benefits.

Interested in clinical development?

We could give you the opportunity to develop in to a specialist role of your interest and benefit to the service i.e. BBV, sexual health, plastering, ILS/ALS (intermediate life support and advanced life support), health promotion, phlebotomy, vaccinations, suturing, wound care, RCGP, and long term condition courses.

What do we need from you so you can do the job?

As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) / Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP), you will join our team to deliver care across our HMP Foston Hall and HMP Sudbury with independent prescribing, you'll deliver face to face services, enabling patients to obtain health information from the appropriate health care professional. You will be providing safe and effective health assessments and treatment of patients within the establishment.

You'll be accountable for your own practice including the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge or referral of patients, independent of medical intervention.

Practicing within your own sphere of competence and agreed acceptable limits of practice, you'll assess patients, and order and interpret investigations, diagnose and treat patients who wish to be seen by an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. You'll be responsible for the assessment of care needs the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, without supervision, and to teach other nursing and non-nursing staff.

Working as part of the multi-disciplinary team in providing quality, evidence-based health care to meet the immediate needs of the patient, you'll take an active role within the cross-disciplinary, multi-skilled team to ensure service quality in line with corporate goals and strategy; to assist in the implementation of the wellbeing approach which have a positive impact on the health economy.

Experience in a prison is not essential, we can teach you that. What we are looking for is someone with the general clinical assessment and diagnostic skills that can be transferred into the prison environment. We can teach you the rest!
