Job Summary

We are currently hiring for a Head of Nursing and Clinical Services to join our Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre. We firmly believe that every one of us makes a difference and the work we do directly affects the patient’s experience.
You will have a key leadership and management role at a senior level, and will provide specialist skills and knowledge to support the organisation and delivery of care to patients. You will have a fundamental role in the delivery of high standards of clinical care, ensuring an environment that is conducive to well being and contributing to effective budgetary management. As a clinical leader you have responsibility for training and development within the sphere and scope of practice in the clinical departments ensuring good governance whilst working collaboratively with the Senior Management Team.

Key Responsibilities

Managerial Responsibilities:
• Provide clear and consistent leadership to all clinical and non-clinical staff in the unit,maintaining a visible presence.• Responsible, with the Hospital Director, for ensuring that budgetary and performanceobjectives are achieved within the unit as well as key performance indicators.• Have continuing responsibility for the management of team leaders ensuring the effective utilisation of resources and promoting high standards of patient care using tools such as Clinical Governance, NICE, CQC Key Lines of Enquiry• To lead in the recruitment and selection process of staff positions, sickness reviews,informal and formal disciplinary issues, poor performance and use of agency/bank staff.• Support the heads of department to retain and develop their teams, encourage innovation and continually strive to meet the business needs and future challenges.• Provide leadership to all levels of staff, ensuring that all staff have the opportunity toachieve their maximum potential via development, training, and competency basedassessments through Personal Development Reviews.• To promote positive, inter professional working relationships within the clinical environment and all other departments.• To drive performance management issues within the clinical area, to include the mostcurrent National and Company objectives Clinical Professional Responsibilities:• Retain clinical credibility and act as a role model in the delivery of patient care, within a specialised and highly critical and technical area, ensuring all aspects are addressed appropriately.• To have a proactive approach to self-development, working within professional code of conduct.• Provide dynamic effective professional leadership, guidance and support for all staff within the clinical areas.• To maintain effective autonomy within this role, by consistently prioritising time, resources and required skills, as per local, divisional and Company requirements.• Integrating research into ongoing practice development and promoting participation in Multidisciplinary audit.• Facilitating the implementation of the Company Clinical Supervision Strategy.• To facilitate / participate in the personal development review process, in conjunction with the Heads of departments.• Facilitating a uniform approach to the development and audit of clinical care pathways.• Monitor compliance of all Registered clinicians with legal requirements and statutory rules. Maintain your own up to date professional portfolio.

Skills & Experience

• Ability to show competency and demonstrate experience at Senior Practitioner Level in Surgical Services• Knowledge of developing new ways of working• Experience of working in the independent sector• Experienced in leading multi disciplinary teams• Experience of performance management of clinical staff members• Evidence of team leadership and supervision of junior staff• Experienced in applying HR policy to staff related issues


• Registered Practitioner• BSc or BA Health Studies or equivalent subject• Evidence of Continuous Professional development (CPD)• Teaching Assessing and Clinical Supervision in Practice• Management Module (or working towards)
