This is a full-time permanent role working 37.5 hours per week across 7 days a week on a rotational basis including weekends and Bank holidays.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is up to £22,000 per annum depending on experience.

What will you be doing?

Skills & Experience

As a Healthcare support worker, your responsibilities will vary. We seek a highly motivated, skilled and flexible individual who is enthusiastic in their approach to working with prisoners. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a working knowledge of mental illness and associated factors.

You will assist the registered practitioner in the risk assessment and delivery of immediate and, where appropriate, ongoing care for patients referred to the mental health team. You will also be expected to support people to access care and treatment appropriately within the prison setting, working independently with lone working at times.

You will provide assistance with the delivery of mental or substance misuse healthcare needs within the Healthcare Department which will include assisting in the administration and checking of prescribed medication (controlled drugs). There is a requirement to demonstrate healthcare abilities including health promotion, and to act within accordance with Care UK and prison healthcare policies and protocols in an emergency or primary care setting, whilst contributing to order, discipline and safety requirements. This will be carried out under the direction and supervision of qualified nursing staff.

What will you need to do the job?

To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience as a Support Worker in a Primary Care setting including GP surgeries, hospitals and has proven experience in clinical observations such as performing ECG, Phlebotomy.

Further Information

This is a part-time role, working 24 hours per week. This post will require weekend working and some bank holidays. The hours are reasonable flexible for the right candidate.

The salary for this role up to £22,000 per annum - dependent on experience
