Be a part of a team that makes a difference...

Prisons are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work - if you’re looking for a role where you can develop your existing skills and learn something new every day, then this is the place to be.

As a healthcare provider, we recognise the fact that prisoners are a socially excluded group with complex healthcare needs that can often be associated with poor outcomes. We believe in putting the patient first, regardless of the environment or their history.

Care UK is the Health in Justice market leader - 4 years ago we were managing 12 prison healthcare services and in 2020 we're providing healthcare services in over 40 prisons across the country.

We can offer training and development in our friendly and supportive teams as well as full-time, part-time and bank opportunities and a range of other employee benefits.

Looking for something a little different?

We're looking for a Primary Care Mental Health Practitioner to support our multi-disciplinary healthcare team at HMP Wormwood Scrubs. This will mean working inside the prison within healthcare and on the prison wings. At present this prison is a category B men's prison. The prison holds approximately 1200 male prisoners over the main wings and smaller units.

The prison is located within the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.

What do we need from you so you can do the job?

You will be the Primary Care mental health practitioner for the mental health team and will provide the triage and assessment for initial referrals and interventions to clients with mild to moderate mental health problems. You'll play a key role in providing a duty role for urgent referrals, Adult nursing experience is essential for this role. You will hold your own caseload of patients and will at some point be subject to the ACCT process and be required to fully participate and contribute to this process when required.

This is a Full time role, working 37.5 hours per week.
