I help to make a difference!

Prisons are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work - if you’re looking for a role where you can develop your existing skills and learn something new every day, then this is the place to be.

As a healthcare provider, we recognise the fact that prisoners are a socially excluded group with complex healthcare needs that can often be associated with poor outcomes. We believe in putting the patient first, regardless of the environment or their history.

Care UK is the Health in Justice market leader - 3 years ago we were managing 12 prison healthcare services and in 2019 we're providing healthcare services in over 40 prisons across the country.

We can offer training and development in our friendly and supportive teams as well as full-time, part-time and bank opportunities and a range of other employee benefits.

In return for your hard work you will...

Receive an annual salary of up to £45,000 . You'll also get a number of benefits including a company contributory pension scheme, 25 days annual leave plus 8 public bank holidays plus CPD and re-validation support.

Other benefits include cycle to work scheme plus training and clinical development opportunities.

What do we need from you so you can do the job?

You will be a qualified Registered Pharmacist- BSc or Master’s Degree in Pharmacy, holding registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). You will have a real passion for developing your own Pharmaceutical skills and those of your team. You’ll have a flexible approach working within a team that encourages new ideas.

If you are self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations, then this could be the right role for you!

Supported by the Pharmacy Manager, you'll be responsible for the provision and delivery of an integrated, safe, legal, high quality prison pharmaceutical service. Working closely with the Head of Healthcare and the multidisciplinary team, you'll be responsible for ensuring that the provision of service meets the contractual obligations. The role also involves responsibility for providing daily expert advice on pharmaceutical matters and ensuring that a safe but modern medicines management service is provided to prisoners. You will be responsible for leading a team of Pharmacy technicians. Based in healthcare but not working within a pharmacy, 1 day per fortnight you will be required to work at HMP Dartmoor.

The required hours for this position are between 15 and 28 per week.
