A bike ride from the Bristol centre to its sister site, Devizes NHS Treatment Centre, raised more than £450 for Thrombosis UK, while an ongoing book sale and donations raised money for the Great Western Air Ambulances. A cake bake and coffee morning also raised funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The final fundraiser of the year was the centre Christmas raffle that raised £580 for RNLI Portishead. Hospital Director Rob Thomas said: “The team at Portishead do an exceptional job keeping people safe at sea as well as preparing for supporting those facing flooding on land. We are delighted to be able to support them and other charities who do so much to help our communities.
“I am very proud of the team here for taking on challenges that not only raise money but also awareness of health issues such as thrombosis, which remains a major cause of death in the UK and is related to one in four deaths worldwide.
“They do all this while working hard to ensure our patients receive first-class care that will see them returning to health and their daily activities pain-free.”
