Job Summary

We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Surgical Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team at Emersons Green NHS Treatment Centre in Bristol as a Team Lead.

Responsible To

Theatre Manager

Key Responsibilities

As the Team Lead you will be responsible for the management and co-ordination of all aspects of clinical and non-clinical work within the surgical service.

This will mean taking responsibility for the day to day management, budgetary control and all aspects of staffing related to the theatre department and to support and deputise for the Theatre Manager.

While you will undertake managerial duties, you will also work as part of the clinical team to provide clinical leadership and will be responsible for managing elective and emergency situations and providing first line care as a clinical expert where necessary.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Extensive post graduation experience in the operating environment
• Recent experience at Senior Theatre Practitioner level
• Change management experience and knowledge of developing new ways of working
• Evidence of team leadership and supervision of junior staff

Qualifications

• NMC Registered Nurse level 1 or HCPC Registered Operating Department Practitioner (ODP)
• Post-registration specialist theatre course
• Relevant teaching /assessing certificate or equivalent
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) or willingness to work towards
