HMP Pentonville is a Cat B/C adult male prison located in the borough of Islington in London.
The salary range for this role is up to £32,000 per annum – dependent on experience. We offer a variety of benefits including:

About the Job:
As a Substance Misuse Nurse, you must be able to carry out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review individual recovery plans and confidently communicate the full range of treatment options available to service users. You must have an understanding and commitment to recovery and a person centred approach. Across everything you do, you’ll maintain accurate records and provide the kind of helpful, empathetic support that will make every patient feel at ease
You will also be working as part of a larger multi-disciplinary team, alongside the primary care and mental health teams.
Are you new to prison healthcare? Do not worry... you will be supported and mentored throughout your first 6 months with Care UK by experienced teams of highly skilled nurses and practitioners as well as management.
You will be a Registered Nurse (RGN or RMN) looking to develop your current skills in a unique and ever changing environment. We would ideally like you to have RCGP 1-2 in Substance Misuse and you must have experience of working with substance misusers, with the ability to work autonomously; with sound clinical/substance misuse knowledge.

At HMP Pentonville there is a large purpose built healthcare centre which has inpatient unit, a day care facility for patients with mental health problems that are managed on the wings. There are also a number of consulting rooms both within the main prison and in the Healthcare Centre.
On each of the wings there is a primary care facility incorporating a GP's clinic and area for dispensing of medication. These also include; Dentistry, Ophthalmology, Podiatry & Physiotherapy.
