We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our Clinical Coding Team based at our Emersons Green NHS Treatment Centre.
First opened in 2009, Emersons Green NHS Treatment Centre was awarded ‘Good’ in its last CQC Inspection in July 2016. The site offers state of the art operating facilities with care provided by highly trained clinical professionals who are able to take advantage of some of the best training and development opportunities in healthcare.
The post holder will have extensive knowledge and understanding of the clinical coding process within the NHS, having successfully passed the Accreditation of Clinical Coders (ACC) qualification. The ability to abstract and analyse information documented in patient’s case notes and assign clinical codes adhering to both ICD10 and OPCS 4 coding standards, following NHS guidelines and with keen attention to detail, are essential to this role. You will have good knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
You will be expected to keep abreast of developments in clinical coding through coding clinics, seminars, meetings and speciality training courses, which could involve travelling to other training locations. Care UK actively supports the training and professional development of all staff. Previous experience of mentoring less experienced coders, either formally or informally, would be beneficial.
This work is vital in monitoring our clinical effectiveness and ensuring the hospital receives payment for the health care it delivers in line with the national re-imbursement mechanism of Payment by Results (PbR).
You must be flexible in your approach, be able to work as part of a team and to tight deadlines without close supervision. Successful applicants will also assist in developing a process of coder/clinician engagement, helping with coding audits and providing professional coding advice to clinical leads and information managers.
If you are looking to develop your skills in the coding environment and feel that you can make a positive contribution to our service, we would like to hear from you.
This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week and the salary is £25,000 - £27,00 per annum.
