Are you looking for a challenge where no two days are the same?

Are you collaborative, caring and compassionate?

Prisons are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work - if you’re looking for a role where you can develop your existing skills and learn something new every day, then this is the place to be.

As a healthcare provider, we recognise the fact that prisoners are a socially excluded group with complex healthcare needs that can often be associated with poor outcomes. We believe in putting the patient first, regardless of the environment or their history.

Care UK is the Health in Justice market leader - 2 years ago we were managing 12 prison healthcare services and in 2018 we're providing healthcare services in over 40 prisons across the country.

We can offer training and development in our friendly and supportive teams as well as full-time, part-time and bank opportunities and a range of other employee benefits.

Looking for something different?

As Deputy Regional Manager for our London and Isle of Wight prison contracts, you must run the establishments in accordance with CQC and other statutory requirements. This role will look after 4 of our London prison sites and the Isle of Wight. You will report directly to the Regional Manager and be supported by Heads of Healthcare within the specific sites or contracts, who will report to you, but largely run their own businesses. This role carries line management and budgetary responsibility for each of the contracts detailed above and is responsible for effective clinical and managerial communication, to and from the central support functions and within the centres.

About the Job:

There are two key aspects to this role. Firstly, ensure that each establishment and their teams are supported and guided to provide innovative, energetic, patient focused care which delivers the committed margin. Secondly, understand the aspirations of the local health economy and find positive solutions for the challenges being faced so that the units become an integral and increasing part of the local health system.
A good grasp of the sector dynamics at both a National and Regional level is required as well as an understanding of the strategic direction for healthcare delivery including the legislative framework within which it operates and an ability to navigate a complex stakeholder environment.
In addition to the above you should be contractually and commercially aware and understand the risks and opportunities which sit within each contract. There is an onus on the individual and their teams to understand the specific service related contractual obligations and to adhere to them at all times.

About You:

As an effective team leader, with proven experience of line managing a multi-disciplinary team, you will have healthcare management experience with knowledge of the NHS and the DoH's plans for the future of the NHS, as well as HMP Prison experience.
It is essential that you have experience of contract management and negotiation, as well as budgetary control and an understanding of financial resources and deliver target EBITDA. In addition to this, an understanding of Clinical Governance.
You will have a Degree or professional qualification, as well as management qualification.
