I help to make a difference!

Are you collaborative, caring and compassionate?

Prisons are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work - if you’re looking for a role where you can develop your existing skills and learn something new every day, then this is the place to be.

As a healthcare provider, we recognise the fact that prisoners are a socially excluded group with complex healthcare needs that can often be associated with poor outcomes. We believe in putting the patient first, regardless of the environment or their history.

Care UK is the Health in Justice market leader - 2 years ago we were managing 12 prison healthcare services and in 2019 we're providing healthcare services in over 40 prisons across the country.

We can offer training and development in our friendly and supportive teams as well as full-time, part-time and bank opportunities and a range of other employee benefits.

Looking for something a little different?

We're looking for a Healthcare Assistant to support our multi-disciplinary healthcare team at HMP Pentonville. This will mean working inside the prison within healthcare and on the prison wings. HMP Pentonville Category B men's prison, Pentonville Prison is not in Pentonville, but is located further north, on the Caledonian Road in the Barnsbury area of the London Borough of Islington, north London.

What do we need from you so you can do the job?

• Healthcare certificate (NVQ Level 2/BTEC or equivalent)
• NVQ level 3 or willing to undertake
• Willingness to undertake training in Mental Health Awareness, suicide prevention, self-harm and ACCT procedures as well as Health Promotion and screening
• Willingness to work in a healthcare environment
• Please let us know if you have Phlebotomy Skills or you would be willing to undertake the necessary training.
• Able to work unsupervised while following policy and procedures
• Ability to establish good working relationships and work well as a team member
• Willing to undertake training as appropriate to ensure the on-going development of services within prison healthcare

If you are self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations, then this could be the right role for you!

As you can see there are many different aspects involved with this role and fantastic opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge to help you progress.
