Are you a GP working in a community setting looking for a new challenge?
We currently have a opportunity for a self employed or salaried GP to join our team at HMP Hewell on a part time basis.
HMP Hewell is a split site prison separated by approximately half a mile. The larger part is category B, holding up to 1,104 remand, sentenced and vulnerable prisoners and has the potential to hold category A prisoners as well. The smaller part (The Grange) is a category D open site holding up to 204 prisoners. There is an 18 bedded inpatient unit and a dispensing pharmacy on site (both on the main site).

It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person’s care.
We’ll utilise the wellbeing model to put patient care and safety at the heart of everything we do through assessing prisoners across 5 domains of; physical and mental wellbeing, substance misuse, relationships and resettlement. The patient and clinician complete a wellbeing wheel assessment to set goals and outcomes in partnership. The patient will complete the assessment and any needs identified will be met by our fully integrated service delivery team.
What will you be doing?
As a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, the General Practitioner will provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patient’s requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management. You will also provide a highly specialist resource to other healthcare staff, patients and carers and have active involvement in clinical governance/effectiveness activities.
It doesn’t end there; you will have a chance to become actively involved in audit, teaching and training (management of substance misuse and/or blood borne viruses) as well as helping us to adapt the service to the ever-changing needs of the patients.

We also offer a competitive annual salary plus payment of MDU/MPS subscription (pro-rata for part-time). Furthermore should you wish there are plenty of opportunities for extra shifts and overtime.

The salary for this role is up to £96,900 (pro rata) - dependent on experience + Indemnity (pro-rata). We also welcome applications from candidates who are looking to work across various sites.
